I am linking this post to Free Motion Friday. I have been quilting on Brad’s quilt.
I anchored the entire quilt by using my walking foot to echo an outline of all the blocks. Then I free motion quilted a grid in the nine-patches.
I had to use the flash to get my camera to photograph the black fabric, so these photos are a bit washed out. The backing is actually a very nice grey on black fabric.
It is easier to see the quilting from the back. I used white thread which pretty much disappears on the front and pops on the back.
I used the “Tree Roots” pattern by Leah Day in the borders.
More of the quilting from the back.
Thanks for showing the back of you quilt to show your quilting designs. I like the tree roots pattern. Are these some Niblets?
Hope you are doing well. Is your quilt pattern ready to be released to the world yet? I just pulled out my version to display on the sofa. Still love it.
Best wishes, Kathie L
Hi Kathy;
It is nice to hear from you. Yes, those are niblets. I will post a photo of the whole quilt once it is done. You will probably recognize some of the blocks as yours. If the pattern comes out it may be out late summer or early fall. I will post something.
I have a traditional version coming out in Quilters Newsletter the first week in May. I received an advance copy in the mail yesterday. They wrote the pattern instead of using mine.

I really love how it looks the tree root pattern!
The tree root pattern has nice texture. Good job!
